Chicago Attractions

Food and history collide at the Chicago Food Planet Food Tours where a walking tour of the city is combined with stops along the way to taste the best of Chicago. Walk through Chicago’s historical neighborhoods and get a taste of their local cuisine. Learn about the architecture, restaurants and food that inspire it all. The tour is about 3 hours long and takes you through the historical neighborhoods. Your guide is friendly, knowledgeable about the history and willing to answer any questions. Taste fine cuisine and some interesting foods that made Chicago famous. See where the first playboy mansion was and even where Frank Sinatra used to sing. Be sure to come hungry and bring a camera.

For an evening of history on the eerie side make sure to get tickets to Supernatural Chicago. It’s a one-man theater show that explains the supernatural events that took place in Chicago throughout history. It is located in Excalibur Nightclub that is known as the most haunted club in all of Chicago. The show lasts about an hour and two drinks and entrance into the nightclub is included. There are no magic tricks or explosions and you won’t scream- but you will be scared. This is a great choice if you like the paranormal and want to learn about Chicago but don’t have the time to take a long tour of the city.

Wrigley Field is Chicago’s icon. Home to the Chicago Cubs, the ballpark is the oldest and smallest in the county. This is a great way to spend the day if you’re a baseball fan or just want to see why Chicago loves baseball so much. Grab a beer and a hotdog and sit down to watch America’s favorite pastime.

Visit Millennium Park located at the Art Institute of Chicago for a spectacular display of modern and motion art. Visit the Crown Fountain where 2 huge glass block columns rotate every five minutes showing 1,000 random faces of Chicago locals. All of the pictures turn into a huge set of lips that pucker and then kiss the screen that triggers a waterspout to pour into the fountain below. Kids can bring bathing suites and play in the water during the summer. Make sure to take time to spend at the Clougate, commonly known as “The Bean” to the locals, which reflects the sky’s movements throughout the day. Stroll around Lurie Garden within the park and enjoy the city in a garden feel. Millennium Park is free and a great way to spend an afternoon outside. Tip: For a great picture stand under the Clougate and point your camera up.

If you want to explore the city on your own rent a bike from Bobby’s Bike Hike. The employees will give you a map of where to bike based on how many miles you want to travel. For $20 for half a day you can cruise around Chicago and see the sites at your own pace. The most popular route is to the top of Lincoln Park where bikers can also ride through the Chicago Zoo.
