The most famous shopping district in Chicago is the Magnificent Mile located on North Michigan Avenue in downtown. There are over 460 stores and boutiques to please any shopper. From high-end designers to quirky Chicago-based boutiques the Mile is a great place to spend the day or even the evening shopping. Take the trolley and learn about the history of the Mile from the driver. It runs up and down the Mile so you can hop on and off as you please. From athletic stores to high tech toys to ball gowns the Magnificent Mile is a must visit.
Visit Chicago Place where eight floors of shopping will have you shop till you drop. From home accessories to gourmet food to jewelry there is nothing you won’t find here. Located right it the middle of the Magnificent Mile, this shopping heaven is the perfect place to find something unique. It is also holds the avenue’s largest food court.
A great mall to take the kids and find fabulous bargains is the Hawthorn Shopping Center. About 40 minutes north of Chicago in Vernon Hills, it features a free Imagination Castle for the kids to play in all afternoon while you shop. The mall has over 140 stores ranging from JCPenny to boutiques for women, children and men. You can also enjoy the wonderful food court that is kid-friendly. For a truly spectacular end to your day head to Cueno Museum and Gardens right up the road and tour the 1914 mansion and its 74-acres of beautifully landscaped fountains, lakes, gardens. It even has a 9-hole golf course.
Located right in Chicago’s Magnificent Mile is Water Tower Place. The ultimate shopping experience- you will be treated like royalty. With over 100 stores there is something unique for everyone here. The atrium is eight stories high and offers breathtaking views of the city. This is the place to see and been seen. It also has the only downtown Lord & Taylor. The mix of urban chic with boutique unique makes Water Tower Place the place to shop.
Travel 20 minutes north of the city for a relaxing shopping experience at the Old Orchard Shopping Center. This outdoor sanctuary is lined with trees that light up a night and comfortable places to sit and people watch. Here you can shop at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and visit their restaurants such as Cheesecake Factory, Maggiano’s and California Pizza Kitchen. There is a children’s play area, a movie theater and beautiful water gardens scattered throughout the mall.
