Local suggestion: A day away from the parks

Take a day to experience Orlando with out the parks. Head to Winter Park and stroll down Park Ave, visiting little shops and restaurants. Stop at Lake Eola wine company or the wine room for a tasting and people watching. Also check out down town Orlando, with Lake Eola, Thorton Park and more. Restaurants: The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park is my favorite ($$$-$$$$), downtown head to Ceviche ($$-$$$)

Orlando - a must do Trip!

If you haven't been to Orlando you don't know what you've been missing. For ages 2 to 92 there is plenty to see and do. Whether you plan on spending every waking minute at Disney World or you are looking to relax; it all can be done in Orlando. There is golfing, shopping (both high end and Outlet shopping), and eating, plenty of eating! Disney World has some of the most fabulous restaurants! At Epcot Center you can eat your way around the World without leaving the country. Even the McDonalds in Orlando are unique.

And if you are one of those few anti-Disney people out there, there is Sea World, Universal, and even beaches within driving distance. We are a family of Disney Freaks and usually spend all our time at Disney, but every day doesn't have to be at a theme park. Take a day relax at the pool, or just go exploring the resorts. Take a ride on the monorail and you can see the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Polynesian resorts. Or spend some time at the Fort Wilderness Campground, where you can see a dinner show, ride a pony, or rent a boat.

The bottom line is there is something for everyone in Orlando. You won't be dissapointed.

Chef Mickey's

This is always on our family's must do list when we visit Orlando. You don't need a park ticket so it is a great place to go on a non-park day (like arrival day dinner or departure day breakfast.) The food is wonderful - the mashed potatoes are out of this world! The characters come to your table so no waiting in long, hot lines for autographs and hugs.
