Reno Attractions

Reno is billed as the world’s biggest small city. Though Reno attractions center on the gambling industry and the many small and large casinos, that’s not all there is to do in this city. From conventions, to the art museum, to an animal sanctuary and great family fun on the mini-gold course, Reno attractions offer everything you’d expect in this tourist haven, and then some.

See the Wildlife
If you’re here visiting with your family then take a trip to the Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary. This is located about 12 miles east of highway 395. This sanctuary features a desert wildlife preserve and is home to a number of foxes, black bears, and mountain lions to name a few of the animals you can spot here. This is a great and safe way for the children to see and get to know desert animals.

Tip: It’s not possible to visit the sanctuary all year round. They are open from April to October, every Tuesday and Thursday.

Kid Friendly Attractions
One of many Reno attractions is the Circus Center Mezzanine Arcade video amusement park. Along with video games, there are also free circus acts going all day to entertain the children. Kids can win a lot of cool prizes from stuffed animals to candy when playing the games. It’s a great place to let the kids run loose and let off a little steam.

In addition to family fun, there are plenty of Reno attractions for adolescents and families as well. Check out the Magic Carpet Golf course where mini-golf is available. There are two 19-hole courses and one 28-hole course to try out. If you’re hungry there’s a pizzeria as well. So why not drop off your kids for a few hours of miniature golf and spend some time with your spouse?

Museum of Art
Reno attractions would not be complete without a visit to a museum. And the Nevada Museum of Art is the place to do just that. It is features a number of different art pieces and exhibitions throughout the year, and just happens to be the oldest cultural institution in Nevada. After hours of playing on the one-arm bandits, wouldn’t it be nice to get in a bit of culture?

River Trails
Taking a walk by the water and getting some fresh air after spending hours indoors is a fresh alternative. One of the top Reno attractions you can check out is called River Trails. Walk or bring your own bike for a ride on the trails. There’s a river that you can dip your feet in if you are hot, and you can even bring a picnic basket for a lunch in the open air.

Water Park
Reno attractions provide different kinds of fun all year round. If you are in Reno during the summer, then be sure to visit the theme and water park Wild Island. It is open year-round but the water slides are only open during the summer months. There are video and arcade games and if you’re feeling competitive then go for a few laps around the go-cart raceway.

So when visiting the Reno attractions you don’t simply have to stay indoors at the casino. There’s plenty to do and plenty to keep you active throughout the year in Reno.
