San Antonio Dining

As one of the most awarded restaurants in the San Antonio area, Frederick’s French Fusion Cuisine (7701 Broadway, Suite 20) brings the high quality taste of France together with the essence of the Far East to create a blend of foods that will assure you their awards were well earned. As it is above average in price, it may not be in your budget to take the family, but for a couple, this is certainly the place to set a romantic tone. Their truffles are to die for, while their lobster bisque is a popular, savory dish. You can’t go wrong here.

With several locations throughout San Antonio, La Madeleine is a mildly priced Bakery/Café/Bistro known for their wide assortment of foods to make anyone happy. Whether it’s a breakfast sandwich on a freshly baked croissant, or a light lunch of coup and salad, or even an end of the day fall-asleep-after-eating meal such as their lavish Beef Crepe Maison, they’ve truly got it all.

Of course, San Antonio is know for it steak, and Saltgrass Steakhouse truly delivers with quality, portion and pricing. Although this is a national chain, the quality is representative of a once-of-a-kind restaurant catering to your palate. The steaks are savory and perfectly seasoned, and relatively inexpensive as compared to some of the more pricey steakhouses (and it taste just as good, if not better). If you’re hungry and you like good food as well as reasonable prices, come try a steak at Saltgrass Steakhouse and you won’t be disappointed.

Specht’s Store Restaurant and Saloon is the absolute best way to get an all-around taste of the Texan culture. They’ve got shopping, food, music and even a museum. Guests are invited to play horseshoe and watch an evening sunset through the clear skies of San Antonio. With over 100 years of rich, story-worthy history, Specht’s is a great place to visit to get some great home cooking while perusing through antiques and getting a feel for the culture of San Antonio with live music and a real historic setting.

Canyon Café is a great place for either lunch or dinner for some quality Tex-Mex, a variety of tacos, burritos, quesadillas and an assortment of salads, pasta and sandwiches. Most dishes are served with rice and black beans, which are home cooked and absolutely delicious (especially if you are used to eating Taco Bell as your only form of beans). They prepare great fajitas, which are served piping hot with your choice of meat and they come with tortillas and toppings for you to construct your ideal soft tacos by hand. They even have a selection of seafood that can be used in burritos, such as the seafood enchilada which is served with sautéed shrimp, fish and crabmeat. No matter what you order, this is Texan dining at its best.
