Washington Shopping
The Potomac Mills Outlet Mall will make you shop till you drop. This is the largest mall in the country! Just half an hour south of D.C. Featuring over 200 of the top brands this is the prefect place to find a great deal. From Ralph Lauren to Brooks Brothers the prices here are well below market value. Be sure to bring your walking shoes and pick up a map at the information center to help plan you day.
Tysons Corner Center is a great place to shop, eat and watch live events. With more than 300 shops there is something for everyone here. Choose from Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor or Macy’s and then browse through the unique boutique shops scattered throughout the mall. The Tysons Corner Center Kids Play Area is a great place for the kids to have fun. Check their Web site for events throughout the year from Movado promotions to filming of television shows.
Reston Town Center has recreated the feel of a French boulevard with brick streets and benches between shops to make this family friendly mall a great place to window shop. With more than 40 stores and 20 restaurants there is something to make everyone smile. The large pavilion hosts concerts, speeches, and transforms into an ice-skating rink in the winter. This outdoor mall is a charming and elegant place to shop year-round.
Union Station is surrounded by monuments and has more than 100 places to shop, dine and lounge after a day of touring. The station itself is a work of art modeled after the Beaux-Arts style of building. David Burnham who is most famous for helping design the Chicago World Fair built Union Station in 1908 to show off the capital’s grandeur. Be sure to look up at the ceiling throughout the mall with its 22-carat gold leaves. The white granite pathways and clean lines of the storefronts make this mall very airy and bright.
About 10 minutes west of D.C. is Ballston Common Mall in Arlington, VA. The mall has everything from Bath & Body Works to a Cold Stone Creamery. It’s a fun place to take the kids for the afternoon and a great place to pick up some unique items. There is an art gallery, a CVS store, a day spa and a playground in the mall. With over four levels of luxury, this urban mall is a fun way to spend a lazy afternoon.
