In fact, it’s generally compared to Nashville in the United States. Calgary has also become the venue for the International Film Festival drawing movie makers from throughout the globe.

Visitors will also find that there is a great selection of museums and galleries in Calgary. Among the most visited is Glenbow Museum, considered the largest in western Canada. It not only relates the country’s heritage, but also includes the history of the Canadian Pacific railway.

Sports are another part of Calgary’s life. Its proximity to the Rocky Mountains allows for tourists to enjoy the ski slopes. Calgary’s skyline is very 21st century and on a clear day one can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Rockies.

Shopping is one of the highlights of visiting Calgary. The city is home to outstanding malls offering clothing by Canadian and International designers. Markets are old institutions and have become popular venues for finding antiques and all sorts of items at very good prices. Specialty shops feature western wear, exquisite jewelry and quality giftware.

Calgary cuisine is varied and exciting. It centers on wild game and fresh seafood and in addition to gourmet quality gastronomy, there are theme restaurants offering originality and excitement for the entire family.

Calgary’s summers are usually warm and sunny. And because of the city’s high altitude, nights are delightfully cool. Winters are known for their cold temperatures but they’re bearable.
