Cincinnati Dining

Cincinnati offers a wide range of choices and different cuisine for people of all tastes.  Despite its small town allure, Cincinnati offers award-winning gastronomy.

Elegant
Housed in a Victorian landmark, the Grand Finale Restaurant is said to be among the finest choices for dining in Cincinnati.  Its upscale menu features an array of American style selections with nuances of French cuisine.  Of the chef’s signature entrees, rack of lamb, filet mignon and frog legs rank high.  The décor is simply magnificent, boasting a selection of antiques.

Another outstanding venue for dining in Cincinnati is The Phoenix.  Critics have given this restaurant an endless list of positive acclaims.  And the award winning wine list is something to rave about.  You’ll want to start with the creamy lobster bisque, which is always made fresh.    And for the main course, the sea bass or the breast of duck are simply divine.

Mount Adams Fish House is a gem of the dining scene.  So if you have a hard time securing a reservation, you’ll understand why.  People from all parts of the state come here for its food.  Try the sea bass prepared on a cedar plank or the tilapia.  And if you enjoy beef, you can have the best of both worlds by ordering the “surf and turf.”

Tip:  If you’re in the mood for dessert, you’ll want to have the pear tart topped with jelled cabernet and shaved almonds.  There’s also a delicious crème Brule cheesecake worth every calorie.

Casual
While in Cincinnati, you don’t want to miss the chili.  It’s known as the city’s main staple.   At the Acropolis Chili Restaurant, visitors can order it in several styles.  It’s prepared with or without beans, with onions or cheese.  It comes in all sizes, but it’s customarily served in large spaghetti size bowls.  The King comes with onions, grated cheddar cheese, chunks of avocado and sour cream.  You’ll always remember this dining in Cincinnati experience.

While dining in Cincinnati, you won’t have to worry about finding quality beef.  Morton’s Steakhouse has been named the best in America and rightfully so.  Dine on prime aged steaks accompanied by superb California wines.  You’ll be impressed by the large size side dishes ranging from creamed corn to steamed broccoli.  You won’t find juicier or tenderer meat.

But if you’d rather enjoy the ambience of an old tavern, Arnold’s Bar & Grill is casual and simple.  It has been around since 1861 and still serves Italian and American fare.  The prices are definitely budget-friendly.

Among award-winning establishments for dining in Cincinnati, Camp Washington is at the top.  It has been nationally recognized for serving the best double-decker sandwiches and chili.  The chili fries are a good option if you’re having a burger.  Bring your appetite, as the portions are generous to say the least.

Before you leave Cincinnati, you’ll want to sample the German and Bavarian cuisine it’s famous for.  Christy’s & Lenhardt’s is the right place for such.  This eatery features traditional recipes like potato pancakes, chicken paprika and schnitzel.
