Krakow Shopping

Krakow is the right city for exquisite shopping.  In the last few years, large complexes featuring big international names and specialty boutiques have joined the already exciting retail scene.  And along the main streets, visitors can buy everything from haute couture to fancy lace.

Shopping Malls and Markets
Among the newest and most visited for Krakow shopping is the Galeria Kazimierz.  It’s home to 160 shops, movie theaters and eateries.  It’s anchored by a large grocery store and merchants like Zara and H & M.  Ladies can spend hours browsing through trendy fashion at C & A or Empik.  And when it comes to cosmetics, there’s no place like Sephora or Marrionaud.  Both are well known throughout the continent.  If you’re planning on treating yourself, there’s no better spot than W. Kruk.  They carry gold and silver jewelry with beautifully crafted ambers.  But if you’re buying a gift for that special someone in your life, go to Zibi and Swiss where they stock impressive time pieces.

Another exciting location to do all your Krakow shopping is Galeria Krakowska.  With 270 boutiques and shops, you’ll need comfortable walking shoes and additional luggage to take your purchases home.  The center is known for its electronics and sports emporiums selling state of the art items at excellent prices.  The mall’s proximity to the main train station is another characteristic that makes it perfect for Krakow shopping.

Tip:  Ice cream lovers will not want to miss the quaint parlors serving a variety of flavors.  Try the bubble gum gelato.  It’s worth every calorie.

If your children come along on your Krakow shopping expedition, make sure to take them to the Krakow Plaza.  It features an IMAX theater and an amusement center bound to keep them entertained for hours.  In the mean time, you can spend the afternoon at Intersport, House of Colors and Zara to name a few.  And when you’re done with these, one hundred more vendors await you.

A favorite of locals for Krakow shopping is Sukiennice or Cloth Hall.  It’s the oldest retail venue in the world and is lined with stalls packed with goods.  Among them you’ll find a wide range of amber and gold jewelry said to be of top quality.

But for true bargains and even a little haggling, wait for the weekend flea markets of Plac Nowy and Hala Targowa for Krakow shopping.  They sell all sorts of merchandise from communist memorabilia to Judaica.

Specialty Shops
Tea drinkers listen up:  Krakow shopping gives you the opportunity to find any kind of tea under the sun.  At Herbaty Swiata Akso, travelers can obtain anything from Darjeeling to English Earl Grey.

Men who enjoy Krakow shopping will have an even better time at Bytom.  The store is at the cutting edge for male fashion with three-piece suits, dress shirts and ties.

For all your literary needs, Massolit is where you’ll want to go.  It’s one of the best bookstores in Central Europe with thousands of translated works by renowned Polish authors.
