Monterey Dining

Dining in Monterey is more than just eating a fine meal at some of the best restaurants around. It offers some of the tastiest and freshest fish and seafood imaginable in some of the most captivating ambiences in the world. Here’s a sampling of some the fine dining in Monterey.

The consummate sardine factory
“Every city has one restaurant that you can't miss,” says the Sardine Factory's home page. Here's a tip right up front: It's true. When it comes to dining in Monterey, the Sardine Factory should be at the top of anyone's list with a somewhat flexible budget. Situated on the quaint and historic Cannery Row, it features one of the premier wine programs in the United States, featuring the best in California Wines.

A small sampling of their absolutely scrumptious menu includes:

Appetizers consisting of Freshly Shucked Oysters on the half shell, Lump Crab and Gulf Prawn Cocktail, an Abalone Medallion, and Escargo En Toscani.

Soups and Salad: You might want to try the local favorite “Monterey Bay Clam Chowder” with fresh buttered clams and their “Salinas Valley Salad” for starters.

And when it comes to ordering “Entrées,” the “Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi,” the “Broiled King Salmon and Crab Meat” and the every popular “Center-cut Pacific Swordfish” it top notch.

And why not complete what promises to be a long remembered experience of dining in Monterey with one of their exquisite deserts, such as their “Warm Chocolate Lava Cake” or perhaps some “Chocolate Kahlua Cinnamon Gelato.”

After dinner why not take advantage of the free valet parking service and stroll down Cannery Row. The ambiance is unbeatable, the fresh salt-water air is revitalizing, and your memories of dining in Monterey will last a lifetime.

Fresh Italian seafood

For some of the best Italian Seafood to with some of the best oceans views to behold, check out Isabella's on the historic Old Fisherman's Wharf. By way of dining in Monterey, it promises some of the most spectacular harbor views from every one of its tables.

A small sampling of their menu includes: Appetizers consisting of Oysters on the Half Shell, Fried Artichoke Hearts (direct from nearby Castroville, the “Artichoke Capital of the World”), Crab Cakes and Calamari.

Dining at Isabella's also offers an array of Chowder, Salads, and Sandwiches, such as their “Monterey Chicken Sandwich” and their “Grilled Sea Bass B.L.T.”

Their entrées include what is advertised as the “Largest Fresh Fish Menu in Monterey,” and a wide choice of Italian dishes, such as their “Pasta Isabella,” which the menu states that it’s “named after Mom so you know it's the best!”

A family affair
Having been located in the same spot for over 28 years is a sign that something is going right at Rosine's. Open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, dining here offers a reasonably priced menu with choices ranging from home made soups such as Minestrone to Chicken Quesadilla to BBQ Ribs, Seafood and Italian fare, and proudly claims to have been “Voted #1 Family Restaurant and Best Deserts in Monterey Country” for over ten years!
