Palm Springs Dining

Once you dine at the fine restaurants of Palm Springs, you’ll agree that the Hollywood personalities are not the city’s only stars.

Among the most popular venues for fine dining in Palm Springs is Spencer’s Restaurant.  It’s located at the edge of the San Jacinto Mountains and boasts a unique style in décor and cuisine.  It’s no wonder it has received numerous awards from the Gourmet Club Society.  Among the acclaimed dishes are the breast of duck, sea bass fillet and Norwegian salmon.  The pastas and risottos are also very well prepared and worth a try.

Another favorite among visitors and popular with locals is the Purple Palm Restaurant and Bar.  This Mediterranean style venue displays a colorful and modern décor using bright purple to liven the walls.  But apart from its trendiness, it serves food to rave about.  Everyone who orders the Pacific Prawns or the Colorado lamb is sure to return a second time.

Tip:  The selection of desserts is quite impressive.  Don’t miss the Catalan style Crème or the array of home made ice creams topped with brandy syrup.  You’ll agree they’re over the top.

And for those with a sophisticated palate and love for French food,   Le Vallauris is the place.  It’s worth the splurge for dining in Palm Springs.  It’s not only the talk of the town but the talk of magazines and critics.  The restaurant has been awarded for its décor, service and most importantly its cuisine.  But it has also received mentions for “excellence and perfection.”  Its opulent interior displays beautiful Louis XV furnishings and Tapestries from the Netherlands.  Of the top favorite entrees is the lobster ravioli with cream.  But if you’re not much into seafood, the veal chops marinated in Brandy are not to be missed.

A casual but superb venue for seafood is the Fisherman’s Market and Grill.  The outstanding menu caters to everyone, even the calorie-conscious guests.  Most ordered items include charbroiled halibut, swordfish and bass.  The oyster bar is truly enjoyable.

If you want to taste the best of southwest and Mexican gastronomy, head out to Blue Coyote Grill.  It’s home to delightful margaritas and home style specialties like quesadillas and dry-rubbed spicy ribs.  The lively ambience filled with decorative pieces from south of the border is a big hit.

You’ll also want to try Copley’s.  With a chef that has so much experience, you can’t go wrong.  Everything that comes out of the kitchen is prepared with care.  Choose the courtyard tables or the stylish dining rooms.  Anywhere you sit you’ll enjoy some of the best dining in Palm Springs.  The lobster pie or grilled rack of lamb are excellent choices.

Celebrities love dining in Palm Spring’s most iconic Italian eatery.  Tony’s Pasta Man has them all lining out the door.  For 25 years it has enjoyed a reputation for its amazing pastas and home style breads.  The list of wines boasts excellent California vintages as well as preferred Italian names.
