Paris Overview

What can be said about Paris that hasn’t been said before? Well, Paris is a place to be experienced more than one time. Paris is a city that takes on a different personality with every season, with every time of day, with each passing year. An icon like the Eiffel Tower cannot be experienced through movies or books, but by physically standing before it and witnessing its architectural magnificence.

Paris, the capital of France, is one of the most cosmopolitan of cities in Europe. Known as the capital of fashion, Paris is a shoppers’ dream. But more than fashion and chic, Paris is a city of icons, with monuments, magnificent avenues and beautiful gardens that grace its borders.

Paris boasts a large number of interesting museums like the Louvre, housed in the Louvre Palace, a fortress at one time. Declared a museum during the French Revolution, it’s one of the most visited in the world.

Most of Paris’ architecture is a residual of 19th century reconstruction. What used to be narrow streets in previous centuries, are now wide and beautiful avenues lined with shops and fabulous restaurants; the most famous being the Champs Elysees, an old promenade in the 17th century, now connects two important landmarks, the Arc de Triomphe and Concorde. The Arc de Triomphe is a tribute to the French soldiers who fought in wars, mainly the Napoleonic wars; Concorde, though once the site of the feared and dreaded guillotine, boasts a beautiful fountain with statues and buildings.

Paris is also the city of romance. Millions of people from around the globe come to Paris to fall in love, or start their married life with a honeymoon they’ll never forget. The picturesque River Seine serves as the place for romantic cruises, and it’s another fun way to see the city. Along its trajectory, visitors can marvel in famous sites like Notre Dame, a fine example of French gothic architecture, and the most photographed site along the journey.

Paris is a magical city at any time, but especially at night when all the monuments and statues are lit up. An evening in Paris is all about fine dining, the opera or perhaps the ballet. For late night, the list of dance clubs is endless. Visitors can also enjoy fantastic shows like the one at the popular Moulin Rouge; this famous spot, built as a windmill back in the 1800s was once a famous cabaret that gave origin to the famed can dance.

Paris is also the place for the most amazing shopping; outside of great fashion, it’s the place to buy the best wines and champagnes; perfumes with exotic scents and great art; and if you want to live the way royals did centuries ago, in Paris you can find Baccarat crystal the most favored by France’s kings and queens.

Paris cuisine is another important icon, with restaurants, brasseries and bistros offering great creations made with duck, beef, seafood and other staples of French gastronomy.

Paris is not just a destination; it’s a magical place.
