Punta Cana is located on the eastern section of the Dominican Republic. It enjoys warm and breezy weather all year long with somewhat hotter temperatures between May and December. The fact that it’s a flat region allows for little rainfall.

Punta Cana is home to the all-inclusive resort. The area is accessible from most cities in the world and its international airport is among the busiest in the country. Getting around is also quite simple. Resorts offer shuttles to take you to major shopping areas. You can take a beach taxi to hop between hotels. Or perhaps you’d like to charter your own yacht or take a scenic flight onboard a helicopter. Adventurous travelers can rent a 4x4 and venture out to discover caves and secluded beaches.

Exploring outside the resorts is a must. Several places of interest include El Cortecito, Cabeza Del Toro and the Basilica of Higuey.

Take a sunset cruise and dine on the best Caribbean cuisine. Or spend the day on a glass bottom boat and admire the beauty that lies beneath the sea.

For those seeking a more active type vacation, there’s all sorts of water activities. Catamaran and boat rides top the list of favorites. Others include double-decker boats where parties go on until all hours of the night. Go sailing, sports fishing, scuba-diving or snorkeling.

If this doesn’t get your heart pumping there’s banana boats, kayaking, parasailing and windsurfing.

But that’s not all. Punta Cana offers much more. A safari type excursion will take you through tropical forests where you can admire the flora and fauna. Tourists can also enjoy the unique experience of visiting a country home. A traditional Dominican lunch is usually included.

Rent a horse from one of the ranches in the area and ride through deserted beaches at sunset.

Nature lovers will appreciate swimming with dolphins at a nearby artificial island or watching the bird species and exhibits at Manatee Park.
