Victoria Shopping

From eclectic shops to elegant English style malls, there’s nothing visitors won’t be able to find on their next trip.  And with the user-friendly city layout, you can do your Victoria shopping easily on foot.

Chinatown
Although small in area, it’s the oldest Chinatown in the country.  You’ll be interested to know it’s also home to the narrowest street.  If you’re looking for home décor, you’ll find excellent buys.  A favorite venue for Victoria shopping is Chintz & Company.  They carry treasures from every continent as well as unique textiles, table top accessories, garden motif stationary and hand-painted dishes.  It’s a fun place to visit.

You won’t want to miss the Silk Road Aromatherapy and Tea Co. either.  Everything you see here is made by the two women owners who have learned the art of blending teas and herbs for medicinal purposes.

Shopping Malls
If you come across a 19th century building, you’ll know you’re at the Market Square.  It’s a favorite among locals and visitors alike for Victoria shopping.  It was once frequented by sailors and whalers who came for the entertainment venues.  Today, it’s home to forty-five boutiques selling everything from fine teas to camping equipment.  And if you’re traveling with a non-shopper, they too can have a great time with the festivals and events that take place in the courtyard.

But if you’re looking for something with character, the Oak Bay Village will not disappoint.  It’s traditional English, quaint and charming for Victoria shopping.  It houses cozy tea houses and out of the ordinary retailers.  They feature regional art and the latest in fashion couture.  If you’re into treasure hunting, you’ll enjoy browsing through the antique shops.

Another iconic spot for superb Victoria shopping is the Mayfair Center.  It’s home to large stores like Toys “R” Us and The Bay as well as 120 smaller establishments including Gymboree and Aveda.  It also features classic clothing like Talbots and footwear from Foot Locker.  There’s something for every taste and every budget.  If you’re hungry, you’ll find a good selection of fast food chains.

Beauty is not just for palaces and government buildings.  While you’re enjoying Victoria shopping you’ll also be able to appreciate the architectural design of some of the malls like the one of the Bay Centre.  This modern complex is built around a glass atrium with an impressive fountain in the middle.  You can shop all day and relax when your feet give out.  There are three stories of purchasing opportunities.

Literary buffs will not go home empty handed.  If you head out to Sidney, you’ll find nothing but excellent book stores for Victoria shopping and each represents a specialty.  There are nautical, military, gardening and crafting themed shops to name but a few.

Specialty Shops
Walk through the area known as Old Town and you’ll spot a selection of colorful buildings with Market Square at the head.  You’ll find the smallest boutique in the world for Victoria shopping featuring every type of silk scarves, t-shirts and hand painted screens.
